Course Overview

Personal care gives workers access to some of the most private parts of a person’s life. Every interaction must protect the person’s dignity, privacy, preferences and control.

This course examines consent, personal boundaries, respectful communication, graded assistance and confidentiality within supported independent living. Workers will learn how to respond appropriately when a participant refuses care, changes their mind, communicates discomfort or requires assistance with an immediate safety concern.
