Building Belonging and Social Inclusion

About this course
Course Overview
Develop practical skills and strategies to help people with intellectual disability build stronger social connections, participate in their communities and experience a genuine sense of belonging.
Why take this course?
Feeling connected, valued and included is an important part of everyday life. However, people with intellectual disability can experience significant barriers to social inclusion, which may contribute to loneliness, fewer opportunities, reduced access to community activities and less involvement in decisions that affect their lives.
Support workers can play an important role in changing this. Good support is not simply about taking someone into the community — it is about helping people develop relationships, make choices, participate in meaningful activities and become genuinely involved in the places and communities that matter to them.
